Spring 2013 Courses

Shippensburg/Millersville Universities

Shippensburg University is currently accepting applications for the Master's in Social Work (MSW) Schuylkill County cohort program scheduled to begin in the Summer 2013 semester at the SCEC-Schuylkill Haven site.

The part-time program, 2 courses per term, 3-4 terms per year, will operate year round and will be specifically structured to respond to the needs of the region. Potential options include the regular 60 credit program and/or the advanced standing program for BSW graduates with an overall GPA of 3.0 and a social work GPA of 3.25. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited BSW program within 8 years of the Summer 2013 cohort to be eligible for Advanced Standing.

East Stroudsburg University

REDUCING CLASSROOM CONFLICT (3 graduate credits)
This 3 credit graduate workshop, offered through ESU's Professional and Secondary Education (PSED) and Elementary (ELED) departments, is designed to provide participants with skills in developing pathways to build strength and success in themselves and their students. It focuses on specific classroom activities that will help develop a climate for effective self-discipline and positive classroom interaction.

1. If you have never taken an ESU course before, or haven't taken a course since summer 2011, please complete a "Special Status Application" including your registration information and return it to the Graduate College. Forms can be found at the ESU graduate page and downloaded from SCEC's website at the link below.

2. If you have recently taken an ESU course and are still considered an active student, you may you may register online through your ESU portal using the Section (CRN) numbers above. If you are unsure of your student status, or have trouble registering, please contact Kevin Quintero, Graduate Admission Coordinator at 570-422-3890 or kquintero@esu.edu.

3. If you wish to defer your tuition until you receive a grade, please review and submit the "Tuition Reimbursement" request at the ESU website and follow links to Enrollment Services and downloaded from SCEC's website at the link below. There is a $50 fee for this service.

PowerPoint. Learn how to create a simple presentation, create and edit

these social media tools to promote your small business. The workshop is for
social media newbies and those who are looking for a bit more. Come ready
to create accounts if you don't already have one. By the end of the session
you will be part of the social media craze!

Picasa is free software that helps you instantly find, edit and share all the
photos on your PC. Every time you open Picasa, it automatically locates all
your photos and sorts them into visual albums organized by date with folder
names you will recognize. You can drag and drop to arrange your albums
and make new groups.
Picasa also makes advanced editing simple with one-click fixes. And Picasa
makes it a snap to share your photos - you can email, print photos home,
make gift CDs, and even post photos on your own blog. Participants will
need to bring along digital photos on a camera (cable is needed to connect it
to the computer), CD or flash drive.

Are you new to the EXCEL program or need a refresher? If so, this course
will provide participants with an introductory look at entering information,
using functions and formulas and creating charts. Scattered throughout the
night participants will also learn additional tips and tricks associated with this robust program.

Access 1

This course is for participants that need to know how to build an Access
database. Participants will begin with defining relational databases and
the key components such as tables, queries and primary keys that are
associated with the Access database structure. Other topics includes,
creating tables, understanding data types and field properties, adding and
deleting records, navigating, filtering, formatting data, and creating forms.

Now that you have the information stored within Access, this course
will allow individuals a better understanding of the queries and other
components that allow you to retrieve just what you are looking for. Topics
include creating and using select and action queries, creating reports, and
importing information.
